One of the first things I ever pinned on Pinterest was a recipe on how to make a cake mix taste like a bakery cake. The directions were to add one more egg, use milk instead of water and to use melted butter instead of oil but double it. So if the box calls for 3 large eggs, 1 cup water, and 1/3 cup oil you would use 4 large eggs, 1 cup milk, and 2/3 cups melted butter. I have made cakes this way a few times now and they really are better. The last one I made was Super Bowl Sunday and that cake was gone before the end of half time and we started serving at half time! Everyone loved it and raved about how moist it was. I have only tried it with chocolate cake mix but I’m going to make a red velvet cake friday for work for Valentine’s Day and I’m going to try it with the red velvet cake mix. I hope it makes the red velvet cake even better. I am a sucker for a good piece of red velvet cake.
