A Letter To My Readers

Dear Readers,

First, I want to thank you my readers for sticking with me as I find the right path for Southern Belle Charm.  I love writing this Blog!  So with that being said I think its time to make a few changes and take Southern Belle Charm in a different direction.  No I am not giving up the blog, in fact I could not give it up, it is my “baby” and I want to see it grow.  So I have decided no more certain day blog posts with a certain topic.  For now on its going to be all random all the time, so the posts could be on any given day and about any given thing.  I will still have posts time from time about NASCAR, Cooking, or Reading.  Because all three of these are a big part of my life, but writing is my passion.  I hope you enjoy the changes and again Thank You for reading and sticking with me.

Southern Belle Reads Friday: “The Owner of His Heart”

This week I started reading an e-book on my kindle called The Owner of His Heart by Theodora Taylor.  Someone I know read this book and they really enjoyed it.  So I thought I would give it a try too.  I have not had much time to devote to it this week so far.  But hopefully very soon I can really get into it and I will let you know what I think.  So far it is not living up to the Marriage Merger or the Crossfire Series.  I’ll keep you posted.

Southern Belle Cooks Wednesday: Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Cake

Yesterday was Birthday food day at work.  So I made a cake, of course.  I made a dark chocolate fudge cake with peanut butter chips and cookies n’ cream icing.

I used a dark chocolate fudge cake mix but did not prepare it the way it says to on the box.  I used a trick I found on Pintrest some time ago.  I used four eggs instead of three, milk instead of water, and butter X2 instead of oil.  To the batter I added about 3/4 cup of peanut better chips.  Baked it, let it cool, and then iced it with Betty Crocker Hershey Cookies n’ Cream icing.  That icing was amazingly good!  They have a Hershey Special Dark Chocolate icing too, I can’t wait to try that one.

Southern Belle Contemplates Monday: Vera Bradley

I have a Vera Bradley obsession, I’m not going to lie about it.  I love the bright-colored purses and bags.  I even have the Vera Bradley luggage, large spinner and small spinner.  So of course now my computer is decked out in Vera Bradley too, just like my Kindle and Phone.  I mean of course I have a Vera Bradley laptop case but no one really sees that unless I am carrying my laptop somewhere.  But now everyone can see it when I use my laptop.  My prescription glasses and sun glasses are even Vera Bradley!

Southern Belle Reads Friday (Working On A Week Late): The Marriage Merger

This week I read “The Marriage Merger” by Jennifer Probst.  Wow!  I loved this book!  It was so different then the other three books of the series.  This book the main male character, Sawyer Wells, to me was a mix between Christian Gray and Gideon Cross.  It really got me out of my reading funk.  There were times when I could not and would not put it down.  I recommend the whole series but this one in particular.

Southern Belle Cooks Wednesday (Almost A Week Late): Southern Belle Almost Baked Spaghetti

I had every intention of making baked spaghetti but that did not go as planned.  I started it but just never got around to finishing it.  I sautéed a zucchini, onion, garlic, and some rainbow slaw mix with olive oil.  While that was sautéing I cooked my whole wheat spaghetti.  Once my spaghetti was done and my vegetables were sautéed to my like I mixed them all together with one jar of pasta sauce.  At this point I had to leave to go out for a family dinner and was going to bake it when I returned.  While that did not happen, it was too late so I put the spaghetti and vegetable mixture into containers to take for work and add mozzarella cheese to the top.  That way when I heated up the spaghetti the cheese would melt on top, making it almost baked spaghetti.

Southern Belle Contemplates Monday (A Week Late): Catching Up

Sorry, it has been a crazy week around here.  I feel like I am going non-stop all day everyday.  This Southern Belle is wearing herself out.  I work, work, work, try to have somewhat of a social life, make family time, plus try to fit a book or two in there somewhere too.  I need a vacation!  And except for a few weekend trips coming up in the next few months I don’t have a vacation planned till after the first of the year.  I love working hard but some days I feel like I am working too hard.  The one plus to the week is the new season of Duck Dynasty.  I love that show and it makes me get my mind off stuff for a little bit.  I will always make time for Duck Dynasty into my busy schedule.  Hopefully the next week goes better.

Southern Belle Reads Friday: Finishing One and Starting Another

This week I finished “Entwined In You” by Sylvia Day, the third book in the Crossfire Series.  I am glad there is going to be a fourth book, because I was left wanting/needing more Gideon and Ava.  I have to see where it goes next.  This week I also started reading “The Marriage Merger” by Jennifer Probst, which is the fourth book in the Millionaires series.  I am not too far into it so I don’t have any real feelings on it yet.  I will keep you posted.

Southern Belle Cooks Wednesday: Cooking Goal

I have decided that I really need to get back to trying new recipes.  So my goal from starting next week until the end of September (and probably even beyond that) is to try one new recipe a week and I will keep you posted on here.  I think the first thing I want to try is backed spaghetti.  Now of course I will probably give it my own twist, maybe a Southern Belle twist.  Time to get thinking about how I want to do this.  Check back next week for all the details.

Southern Belle Contemplates Monday (On Tuesday): 10 Random Things From My Southern Belle Brain

Ten Random Things I have been thinking about and thought I would share.

  1. I think Hallmark Channel or someone else should make movies out of the “Yada Yada Prayer Group”.  I would love to see my favorite characters come to live on the screen.
  2. Part of me thinks it would be cool if they did a “Gone With The Wind” movie re-make.
  3. I think it would interesting if they did a “The Nanny” reunion movie.
  4. While I liked that the new “90210” ended with Liam and Annie getting engaged, I would have liked it better if the show ended with them getting married.
  5. The Pioneer Woman is probably my favorite celebrity cook and probably the one I can relate to the most.
  6. I think I might write a book, or at least try.
  7. I would love to see Morgan and Garcia end up together on “Criminal Minds”
  8. I really don’t think “Scarlett: The Sequel to Gone With The Wind” is what Margaret Mitchell would have had in mind if she was going to write a sequel.  The Scarlett in there was not the Scarlett from the original.
  9. On “Revenge” I don’t really think Declan is dead.
  10. I can’t wait to hear who is going to play Christian Gray and Gideon Cross in the movies for “Fifty Shades of Gray” and “Bared To You”.  I think Colin Egglesfield could pull off one of them.
