Southern Belle Reads: The Matchmaker’s Playbook

The Matchmaker’s Playbook by Rachel Van Dyken is the most recent book to be made into a Passionflix Film and you know how I am about reading the book before I watch the movie. I tried and tried and tried to read this book but I could never get into it, so I converted to listening to the book and even then I had a hard time staying focused on it. It was just not my kind of book. I will still watch the movie but the book was just so so. I had a really hard time liking the main characters, and if you can’t like them then it will make for a long book. The only cool thing about this book is the kindle ebook version is it is a kindle in motion book. This was my first experience with one of these and it was really cool. Some of the pages have pictures and movement on them it was a nice surprise to turn a page and have some color and graphics to your book.

My Journey Re-Reading Gone With The Wind

I made a decision this weekend, I am postponing my journey re-reading Gone With the Wind. I need to have a clear mind to be able to focus on this journey and I don’t have that right now. I should have known better than to start it right before vacation, since I get into intense vacation mode before a trip. Plus I have a few other books screaming at me. I want to read the book that was made into the newest Passionflix movie so I can watch the movie. And I have a book I started before Christmas staring at me daily. I hate leaving books unfinished for a long period of time. And I may just have to read a mystery or two to get that out of my system too. So I’m not ending my journey I’m just pushing it back a few weeks till I can focus on the journey.

After Burn/After Shock Book and Movie

Last Friday Passionflix started streaming their newest book turned movie, After Burn/After Shock by Sylvia Day.  I’ll start with the book, it was okay.  I like the Crossfire Series more but this is actaully two novellas in one book.  So they are not as in depth, which I prefere but limited space means limited information.  I would have preferred more of Gia and Jax’s backstory.  On to the movie.  They did a great job following the book and hitting some of the major points.  I love that Passionflix is turning books into movies, this being the second, and I can’t wait for more.  I think I would have to say Hollywood Dirt was better but then again maybe that was just me liking that book better.

Hollywood Dirt

Yesterday was the day Hollywood Dirt starting steaming on Passionflix.  I was excited to get home from work yesterday to watch it.  I really enjoyed it.  It’s a movie based on a book so of course the movie doesn’t hit on everything the book does but I actually thought it did a pretty good job following the book.  I know you can only do so much in a short time when a book is over 400 pages.  It was well worth the monthly fee for Passionflix.  I can’t wait to read some of the other books and see what they can do with them.

Passionflix and My Reading

Passionflix is here!  I think it is going to make me step up my reading. I have already Hollywood Dirt to prepare me for when it starts streaming on the twentieth.  A few of these books I have heard of and thought about reading but now I will have to read them.  Next one for sure is Afterburn\Aftershock.  Then maybe Driven of This Man.  Stay tuned for updates.

What I’m Reading

This week I’m reading “Hollywood Dirt” by Alessandra Torre.  This is going to be one of the first movies on that Passionflix so I thought I would see what it’s about.  I have not finished it yet but I’m enjoying it so far.
