Southern Belle Reads: My Heart is Still in the Outer Banks

I finished the last book in the Dare Island Series over the weekend and my plan was to start The Beach House by Mary Alice Monroe. And I did but I was not ready to leave the Outer Banks behind for the South Carolina Low country. So I started The Outer Banks Baker Mystery.

Updates

A few updates I thought I would share.

Reading

I have been on a role as of late.  I caught up on the Morgan’s Run Series and started a new series, Dare Island.  I am two books in on that and can’t wait to read the other three and a half.  But I am taking a little detour right now so I can read the next book becoming a Passionflix movie.

Auntie Life

The kids keep us hoping that’s for sure.  But I love them to pieces.  The two year old is really becoming her own person.  And a bag lady just like her auntie.  The three year old will be four soon and he is becoming a little man.  I truly think I am one of his favorite people and that melts my heart.  These two little ones are my Disney Nerds.  They love watching Disney Sing Along Songs in the car and watching YouTube videos of Disney World rides at home.  The eight year old well she is eight going on eighteen (so she things).  Boy does she have mood swings.  She hates everybody and she’s not afraid to tell you either.

No Book Purchases September/October

Well that was a complete bust.  I did pretty good in September but feel off the wagon in October.  Hopefully November and December will be better.

Travel

Now that my much anticipated Outer Banks trip is over I am starting to have Disney withdraws.  Hopefully a February/March trip is in the plans.

Life in General

My best friend from college moved further down in Kentucky this summer so now my two closest girlfriends (that are the same age) do not live close to me.  I think I need to make some much overdue changes to my life.  I will work on them.  Still waiting for Mr Right to sweep me off my feet.

Back From Vacation

Last week was my Outer Banks vacation.  We got back Sunday and by Monday I was ready to go back.  Well actually, I didn’t want it to end to begin with, so I guess it was more like my desire to stay had increased by Monday.  I have never needed a vacation as much as I did last week. It was so good to relax and enjoy the salt air, read as I was watching the tides, and spend time with my aunt. Since my grandma passed away a few years ago, she moved about 45 minutes to an hour away, and all the hustle and bustle of everyday means I don’t see her as much as I used to.  So it was good to have a week to “catch up”.  We took a sunset dolphin cruise and a wild horse tour.  Plus we ate dinner together every night and breakfast together almost every morning.  The house we rented was amazing.  What more could we have asked for?  It was just what this Southern Belle needed.

Vacation Photo Week Day 7

I started with an Outer Banks sunset so why not end with an Outer Banks Sunrise.  I just love the colors in the sky.  This was right from the deck of the house we were staying in back in 2014.  I loved waking up each morning and watching the sun rise.

Vacation Photo Week Day 1

This is from our very first trip to the Outer Banks back in 2007.  We were driving home from dinner through the town of Duck as the sun was setting over the sound.  Dad pulled over so I could snap a picture.

Vacation

My Outer Banks vacation is a month and a half away.  Is it too early to start packing my bags?  Because I am seriously thinking about it.  I need a relaxing vacation so bad.  My Disney vacation was great don’t get me wrong, and I lost touch of reality while I was there, but all that walking and timing is not really relaxing.  Part of it’s me, I try to jam too much in, but I just love it there so much.  I can’t wait to crowl up on a couch, bed, or chair and lose myself in a book or two.

The Hardest Part of No Disney

I have already told you this Southern Belle’s Disney Vacation got canceled.  The hardest part about the whole thing is this year should have been an Outer Banks year but no first my cousin and his wife wanted to take their daughter for the first time and then the three kids were going to go so it was going to be a big family trip so I got on board the Disney train.  Well then the first cousin and his wife backed out but we were still going to go with the kids so I was still on board.  Then my other cousin and his wife (the kids mom and dad) backed out so the whole trip got canceled.  Now I get No Outer Banks and No Disney.  That is the hardest part of the whole thing.  I should have never jumped on board the Disney train and stayed on the Outer Banks train.  It was also hard canceling that princess breakfast I had reservations for.  Not going to lie, I was looking forward to that. Well hopefully next year I can get my Disney Trip in May and we have already told my aunt and her boyfriend that we are going to the Outer Banks in October next year and they are looking forward to it.  I am having Outer Banks withdraws.
