You probably all know by now that the Outer Banks of North Carolina is one of my favorite places. It is what I long for when I need rest and relaxation. It is in my blood and has been sine my first visit. So I love when I find books based in the Outer Banks. Which makes my current “car reads” perfect. A series of books based in the Outer Banks. And fitting that I am reading them during the summer. Steamy weather and even steamier stories. There are five total so that should cover most of the summer!
Well I am starting the last book in the Dare Island Series today. It is bittersweet, I like moving on to a new series but I will miss the characters from this series. That is the best part about series the characters start to feel like family/friends. The other down side about finishing this series is no more Outer Banks. I loved feeling like I was back in the Outer Banks while reading these. But I have tons of options at home on which direction to head next. I am not lacking on book choices that is for sure.
I have been on a role as of late. I caught up on the Morgan’s Run Series and started a new series, Dare Island. I am two books in on that and can’t wait to read the other three and a half. But I am taking a little detour right now so I can read the next book becoming a Passionflix movie.
The kids keep us hoping that’s for sure. But I love them to pieces. The two year old is really becoming her own person. And a bag lady just like her auntie. The three year old will be four soon and he is becoming a little man. I truly think I am one of his favorite people and that melts my heart. These two little ones are my Disney Nerds. They love watching Disney Sing Along Songs in the car and watching YouTube videos of Disney World rides at home. The eight year old well she is eight going on eighteen (so she things). Boy does she have mood swings. She hates everybody and she’s not afraid to tell you either.
No Book Purchases September/October
Well that was a complete bust. I did pretty good in September but feel off the wagon in October. Hopefully November and December will be better.
Now that my much anticipated Outer Banks trip is over I am starting to have Disney withdraws. Hopefully a February/March trip is in the plans.
Life in General
My best friend from college moved further down in Kentucky this summer so now my two closest girlfriends (that are the same age) do not live close to me. I think I need to make some much overdue changes to my life. I will work on them. Still waiting for Mr Right to sweep me off my feet.
Last week was my Outer Banks vacation. We got back Sunday and by Monday I was ready to go back. Well actually, I didn’t want it to end to begin with, so I guess it was more like my desire to stay had increased by Monday. I have never needed a vacation as much as I did last week. It was so good to relax and enjoy the salt air, read as I was watching the tides, and spend time with my aunt. Since my grandma passed away a few years ago, she moved about 45 minutes to an hour away, and all the hustle and bustle of everyday means I don’t see her as much as I used to. So it was good to have a week to “catch up”. We took a sunset dolphin cruise and a wild horse tour. Plus we ate dinner together every night and breakfast together almost every morning. The house we rented was amazing. What more could we have asked for? It was just what this Southern Belle needed.
I started with an Outer Banks sunset so why not end with an Outer Banks Sunrise. I just love the colors in the sky. This was right from the deck of the house we were staying in back in 2014. I loved waking up each morning and watching the sun rise.
I was actually going to post a photo not from the Outer Banks today but this popped up in my memories so I thought why not. In all our trips to the Outer Banks this was the only time we saw the wild horses on the beach. We have seen the wild horses every time but usually back among the houses in the 4 wheel drive area. The horse tour is my favorite part of the whole trip.
