I am always game for a Nicolas Sparks movie, but my favorite is probably Nights in Rodanthe. Is it one of his better movies, probably not. But for me everytime I watch it it takes to the place I love most, the Outer Banks of NC. This is actually one of the movies that follows the book a little more too, which I prefere. I have actaully seen the house they used for filming from afar. The Lucky One and Safe Haven are two of my favorites too. I would have liked Dear John more but they changed it up way too much for me. Another side to the making of a good Nicholas Spraks movie is a good actor. Without a good actor the movie is just okay. That is probably what helped Nights in Rodanthe, Richard Gere, how could you go wrong there.

The Longest Ride and The Best of Me
Last weekend I rented The Longest Ride movie and watched it. I loved it! That is one of the Nicholas Sparks books I have not read so it was a total surprise for me. I thought Alan Alda was great in it. And Scott Eastwood, let me just say I am a Scott Eastwood fan for life now. Oh boy is he hot! A few weekends before that I watched The Best of Me on Netflix, now that book I read so I knew how it ended. But even though I know how the book ended doesn’t mean I know how actually they will pull it off in the movie. I will admit I was not sure how James Marsden would do as Dawson but he did better than I thought. While I liked both movies and The Longest Ride is now probably one of my favorite movies based on a Nicholas Sparks book, my absolute favorite still is Nights in Rodanthe. How can you go wrong with Richard Gere, Diane Lane and the Outer Banks?!

Southern Belle Reads Friday: Finishing Up A Few Books
This week I finished two of the books I’ve been reading. First I finished reading “The Best of Me” by Nicholas Sparks and then I finished reading “Come To The Table” by Neta Jackson. “The Best of Me” was not one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books. In fact it would probably be close to the very bottom of the list. I figured out how it was going to end before it was even over. I would have hoped for a better ending but you never know what you are going to get with a Nicholas Sparks book. While reading this book I saw a lot similarities between this book and some of his other books. “Come To The Table” was like being back with family. I have loved the women of Yada Yada since the first book. I have read all the Yada Yada books, The House of Hope Books, and now the two Souled Out Sisters Books. I wish there was a book three out already because I so wanted to be able to pick up where this book left off. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Southern Belle Reads Friday: What I’m Reading Now
This week I’m still reading “Come To The Table” by Neta Jackson but I am also reading “The Best of Me” by Nicholas Sparks. It is not uncommon for me to be reading two books at once. I’m not sure about “The Best of Me” yet. So far my feelings on it is it is not the greatest book of his. I see a lot of his others works in this book. Maybe that is why he took a year off in between this book and his new book coming out later this year. More next week on what I thought. Hopefully by next week I will be done with “Come To The Table” as well. I am loving this book but most of the time I fall asleep trying to read. More to come later…

Southern Belle Reads Friday: Wow!
This week I finished Nicholas Sparks’s “Safe Haven”. Wow! Is the only thing I can say about this book. It is like none of his other books. I knew what it was about a little bit because I did see the movie. I knew it would be different then the movie though too because books and movies are never the same. This book really hits on a subject that not many people want to talk about, domestic abuse. I know it happens but this book gives the readers I really good look at it, in some ways it was a real eye opener.
