NOLA In My Reading (Recommended Series In Depth Part 2)

I knew I was drawn to the city of New Orleans from my short trip there two years ago, I just didn’t realize how drawn I was. That draw has even found its way to my reading now. There are two series (both from my recommended series list) that based in New Orleans. The first is the Boudreaux Series by Kristen Proby and the other is the Bourbon Street Boys Series by Elle Casey.

Boudreaux Series (in order)

– Easy Love

– Easy With You (novella)

– Easy Charm

– Easy Melody

– Easy Kisses

– Easy for Keeps (novella)

– Easy Magic

– Easy Fortune (novella)

– Easy Nights

I just learned about the first novella Easy with You so I am super excited to go back and read it. These are fun romances that really capture the essence of New Orleans. They are full of southern charm mixed with the music, magic, history, and night life of New Orleans. Reading these really made me want to go back to NOLA and since I don’t see that happening any time soon these were a fun way to take a little trip back there, even if it was only in my mind.

Bourbon Street Boys Series (in order)

– Wrong Number, Right Guy

– Wrong Place, Right Time

– Wrong Question, Right Answer

– Wrong Turn, Right Direction

The Bourbon Street Boys series are four quirky detective stories with some romance built in. Would I say these are the best books, not really, but they were a fun breath of fresh air. They kept me laughing and I really enjoyed the characters and their bond, so that was good. These are perfect for a change of pace reads, in my opinion.

Single on Valentine’s Day

Another Valentine’s Day where my date is with two guys I have never even met but their names are known worldwide and I’m sure a few other singles will be having a date with them as well, Ben & Jerry. Oh, how I love their Chunky Monkey. That’s right I am talking about ice cream here, no minds in the gutter! That is my special treat to myself each Valentine’s Day, a pint of Chunky Monkey ice cream. Don’t worry I don’t eat the whole pint, but I could if I would let myself. I was really hoping that maybe this year would be different but no such luck. My Prince Charming/Rhett Butler is lost somewhere and won’t ask for directions or he has completely fallen off his horse and has broken something, lying in a ditch somewhere. Oh well, I will make the best of it. With Valentine’s Day being on a Tuesday this year at least I will have my men of New Orleans, NCIS New Orleans.  I did receive flowers from a handsome dude.  Of course he’s three so technically his mommy bought them, but he was so proud of himself when he gave them to me .

31 Day Blogging Challenge Day 12: If I Won The Lottery…

If I won the Lottery…

  1. I would pay off my car, but now I see that have Hybrid Rav4’s and I maybe interested in one of those
  2. I would payoff some bills
  3. I would purchase the Disney Vacation Club
  4. I would take a trip to the Outer Banks
  5. I would take a trip to New Orleans
  6. I would take a trip to Savannah
  7. We would have Princess Rooms at Disney in October when we go
  8. And all the girls would have Princess Makeovers and the boy would get a Pirate Makeover
Those are my first thoughts on what I would do if I won the lottery.  I’m sure I would come up with more things.

2015

2015 where have you gone? It is hard to believe tomorrow is already the first day of 2016. Here is a look back at my 2015.
I traveled to 3 new states; Louisiana, Mississippi, and Michigan. In those three states I visited a few cities; New Orleans, West Monroe, Natchez, Grand Rapids, and Holland. I even tried some new foods; fried catfish, wilted salad, beignets, and a dole whip.
Little Baby Girl E was born this year. I got a bonus trip to Disney World where I got to see the Osborne Lights for the first time and the castle all in lights. All in all 2015 was a good year. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has to bring! And if everything goes as planned another trip to Disney will be on the plate in 2016, the first of hopefully many for my little J and E.

Southern Belle Charm: New Orleans 10 Years Later

I am not familiar with the New Orleans before Katrina, or the New Orleans right after Katrina.  But I am familiar with the New Orleans almost 10 years after Katrina, and I think it is pretty great!    It was 10 years ago today that Katrina ripped through the city and left total devastation.  Thinking of New Orleans and all the other cities in the Gulf that were left in ruins after Katrina tore through them.
