What I’ve Been Watching

Beside my new found obsession with Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, I try to keep up with some primetime shows. Here’s what I’ve been watching.

9-1-1: I’m really enjoying this Fox drama with Connie Britton and Angela Bassett.

Station 19: I was shocked that this was a spin-off of Gray’s but I’m liking it.

Better Late Than Never: I found this earlier this year and this might be my new favorite TV show. I laugh so hard every time this is on. If you have not seen this yet, I recommend watching it.

Those are the only new shows I’ve been watching. Of course I still keep up with Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Gray’s, and NCIS New Orleans.

New TV Season

This Southern Belle is a happy girl right now.  The new shows have started!  Although it is a little strange not having Nashville and Castle.  At least Nashville will be coming back in January, but Castle will not be coming back.  As I type this right now I am watching the season premiere of Criminal Minds.  And I have seen two new episodes of NCIS: New Orleans and one new episode of Blue Bloods.

Criminal Minds

I’m sure you have all figured out by now that I am a huge Criminal Minds fan.  And I’m sure if you are any kind of fan by now you have heard that Hotch is out.  Thomas Gibson was fired.  First Deriek leaves and now not Hotch what are they going to do?  It will be interesting to see the direction they take the show now.  I have heard some of the people that they have hired but I am still interested to see how they write them in and him out. I guess Reid is going to have to step it up!  He is one of the few that have been there from the start.   I will keep you posted on my thoughts after the new season starts later this moth.  Hopefully they will make it intersting enough to keep me watching.  I would hate to give up on it but I will if I have to.

Not So Breaking News

I saw the news yesterday. Nashville and Castle have been canceled. In some ways I am not surprised. And it some ways I am not sad about it. If everything goes as it is now and Criminal Minds Beyond Borders stays at 10:00 on Wednesdays after Criminal Minds, I know what I will be watching. Sorry ABC but I love Gary Sinise and that Beyond Borders cast.

Southern Belle TV Viewing

Lately my TV watching has been all over the board. I love shows like Blue Bloods, Castle, NCIS: New Orleans, Criminal Minds, Major Crimes, and Rizzoli and Iles. Then of course there is my addiction to the Food Network. My favorite is the Pioneer Woman, but I also like Triple D, and I have been getting into triple G. But the last couple weekends I have been addicted to Flea Market Flip on GAC. That’s right Flea Market Flip!!! I have no clue where that came from! I am not crafty like that at all but I enjoy seeing what the two teams can make out of stuff they purchased at a Flea Market. And let me tell you they have made some interesting things! And then there are some that are just flops. I first starting watching this show the weekend before last and this past weekend I found myself looking for this show on TV. It’s funny how are TV viewing can range so far.

My New Favorite Show

I love crime shows. Castle, Criminal Minds, Justified, so it should come as no surprise that my new favorite show is a crime show too. It’s not a new show but new to me. I have been eating up Blue Bloods on Hulu. I am loving Donnie Wahlberg in this show and I was not a huge fan of his to begin with. I look forward to going home everyday so I can watch more Blue Bloods.

Update

I know it has been a while since I last posted and my post before that were few and far between, I am sorry.  It has been a world wind of a summer for me but it is starting to slow down.  Here are a few updates.

From the Kitchen:

  • Tiger Butter Cake- Chocolate Cake with White Chocolate Frosting
  • Vegetable Cheeseball- Cream Cheese, Ranch Dressing Mix, and Broccoli Slaw Mix
  • Buckeye Brownies: Brownies with Peanut Butter and Chocolate on top
  • A New Twist on Salad: Broccoli Slaw Mix, Ham, and Dressing

Reading:

  • Read “Taken By Tuesday” by Catherine Bybee (Part of the Weekday Bride Series) I love this series.
  • I finally finished “Reason to Breathe” and have started reading “Barely Breathing”
  • Read “Just a Fling”

Miscellaneous:

  • I have been spending lots of time with the kids now that they have moved here and I am loving every minute.  The nine month old is starting to get attached to me and that is a special feeling to have a baby reach for you.  The five-year old practically has me eating out of the palm of her hand.  And she started Kindergarten last mouth and I am still finding that hard to believe.
  • My Disney Fever is increasing with each passing day.  And the five-year old is getting Disney Fever too.
  • I got to spend a lovely afternoon in Maysville and Augusta Kentucky with two of my best friends.  We went to the Kentucky Heritage Museum where they have a huge display of Miniatures and we went to the Rosemary Clooney House.
  • My Outer Banks vacation is less than a month away and I am counting down the days till I will be going back to that special place that has come to been so much to me.
  • I got the Kindle Fire HDX, which replaces my Kindle Fire HD.  I am very impressed with this device.
  • I am really looking forward for the new seasons to start for many shows but Criminal Minds is probably the one I am looking forward to most.
  • A few weeks ago on Hallmark Channel I watched “The Color of Rain” Movie, I thought it was a great movie.  I read some of the book and the movie was a nice follow up.

( I will write more detailed separate posts for many of the items mentioned above so please keep a look out for them.)

Southern Belle Favorite Things: This Country

july 2014

In the spirit of Independence Day tomorrow my favorite thing is my country, the great USA.  I love a lot of things about this country.  I love that we have places like the Outer Banks, Disney World, and the Blacks Hills and that we can travel to them.  I love that we have National Parks like Yellowstone, the Badlands, and the Smokey Mountains.  I love that we have shows like Castle, Criminal Minds, and Duck Dynasty.  I love that we have Mickey Mouse.  I love that we have a history even if it’s not all good.  I love that we have movies like Gone With The Wind, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, and Sleeping Beauty.  I love that we have the Grand Ole Opry, Country Music, and NASCAR.    I love that we are free.  I am thankful for the brave men and woman who help protect this great nation.  I could go on and on with the things I love about this country but I will stop there.  I am proud to be an American and I will show my love for country tomorrow.  Happy 4th of July to all my readers.  Thank you for reading.

Southern Belle Contemplates Monday (On Tuesday): 10 Random Things From My Southern Belle Brain

Ten Random Things I have been thinking about and thought I would share.

  1. I think Hallmark Channel or someone else should make movies out of the “Yada Yada Prayer Group”.  I would love to see my favorite characters come to live on the screen.
  2. Part of me thinks it would be cool if they did a “Gone With The Wind” movie re-make.
  3. I think it would interesting if they did a “The Nanny” reunion movie.
  4. While I liked that the new “90210” ended with Liam and Annie getting engaged, I would have liked it better if the show ended with them getting married.
  5. The Pioneer Woman is probably my favorite celebrity cook and probably the one I can relate to the most.
  6. I think I might write a book, or at least try.
  7. I would love to see Morgan and Garcia end up together on “Criminal Minds”
  8. I really don’t think “Scarlett: The Sequel to Gone With The Wind” is what Margaret Mitchell would have had in mind if she was going to write a sequel.  The Scarlett in there was not the Scarlett from the original.
  9. On “Revenge” I don’t really think Declan is dead.
  10. I can’t wait to hear who is going to play Christian Gray and Gideon Cross in the movies for “Fifty Shades of Gray” and “Bared To You”.  I think Colin Egglesfield could pull off one of them.
